Lockdown Business Success Story – True Horizon

Lockdown Business Success Story – True Horizon

Nancy is an environmental consultant and sustainability expert at True Horizon; she helps businesses develop strategies to balance people, planet and profit effectively.

Although many areas of the natural world benefitted during lockdown, business at True Horizon like so many organisations was a challenge. Many people were starting to take more notice of the natural world and their own impact on the environment, but the business environment was uncertain and purse strings were being tightened.

The uncertainty led to a very quiet period for True Horizon, which could have been disastrous. Nancy however is a resilient lady and saw the opportunity to refocus the business and spend time developing new products that had been stuck in the ideas phase for too long. During lockdown she found time to tackle the tasks that had been sat on her to do list for some time. By prioritising these tasks and spending valuable time developing the ideas she was able to hit the ground running when business picked up. Remarkably during lockdown Nancy led True Horizon through:

1. A complete rebrand
2. Launched a brand-new website
3. Started a newsletter
4. Increased her business Network and developed vital new contacts

This unique time also provided Nancy the opportunity to look at herself and ensure she was where she wanted to be. This takes courage, something Nancy isn’t short of. For Nancy it was important for her to revisit why she started her own business and in doing so she confirmed her own mission: To support all businesses in developing an effective triple bottom line strategy (people, planet & profit) balancing purpose and profit.

All of these things have put True Horizon in a stronger position than it was before lockdown. True Horizon have clearly defined their unique offer which helps any business, regardless of size, to make a positive impact. By clearly communicating organisational values, businesses attract and retain the right clients and employees, making the business stronger and more sustainable, leading to cost savings and increased bottom line returns.

Lockdown has also provided Nancy the opportunity to meet far more businesses than she would have done otherwise and connect in a more sustainable way. Online networking has definitely reduced the carbon footprint of most networking meetings!
